I have extensively studied child and adolescent development and believe that it is crucial to view a child through the lense of his or her particular developmental stage. Further, I believe that those who are the closest to a child have the greatest potential for helping him or her. Therefore, a central part of working with a child is to help parents to help their child. As a father of three wonderful children, I also know how parents do not want to be kept in the dark about their children. Open communication between therapist and parents and their active involvement in the treatment process are pillars of my work with children. I work with even very young children and also work with parents on parenting skills and techniques.
Some of the reasons that I work with children are:
ADHD
Coping with Divorce
Behavioral Problems
Depression
Anxiety
Death or Illness of a Parent
Survivor of Trauma / Abuse
